Me to We: Is Your Extension Program Making the Switch?

Posted by: dean In: eExtension

The world is changing rapidly, exponentially. If you have been working in Natural Resource Management, Agriculture or the Environment for more than 10 mins you know well that the way business is done in our fields is also changing rapidly. Thing is if we are still doing extension the way we did three years ago, we are going to be talking to empty shed meetings, have plenty of left over flyers, and be struggling to engage stakeholders in a meaningful way.

We must accept that our audiences are changing every day, and if the way we communicate with them does not change then our messages for them will be left at the bottom of their information consumption scrap heaps with junk mail and muted TV ads.

Below is a great presentation about the changing face of business, it might not be precisely aligned to NRM, Agriculture, or the Environment, but the trend and the solutions are universal. The social media tools discussed in this presentation could all be components in a well constructed eExtension strategy.

Enjoy the presentation and if you have begun using eExtension in your Natural Resource Management, Agricultural or Environmental project please leave us a comment below about which tools you are using.
