eExtension Glossary

Blog

A blog (which is short for weblog) is a particular type of website. There are a number of difference variations of blogs however they generally have some common features;

• publish articles in chronological order (usually last article first)
• easy to add content
• allow readers to subscribe to a feed of articles
• allow readers to comment on articles
• index very well with search engines

eExtension

eExtension is “the use of Web 2.0 and Social Media tools in engagement, knowledge sharing and creation, and community cultivation of Sustainable Agriculture, Natural Resource Management and Environmental Stakeholders”.

RSS or RSS feed

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It is simply a stream of information most commonly blog posts, podcasts, videos, or images that can be subscribed to. For example if you subscribe to a blog with an RSS feed reader like Google Reader. You will receive blog articles as they are published, much like an email inbox for feeds.
